Actress, singer, songwriter, poet and author Jane Benney was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, to a British father and Zimbabwean mother. She began acting and singing at an early age, and upon her family’s move to South Africa when she was 11, continued on with her love of the arts by performing in as many musicals and plays as she could, without getting kicked out of school. In 2001 Jane was cast as the female lead in the comedy Mr Bones. The film went on to become the highest grossing South African film of all time, and marked her feature film debut. Jane moved to Oahu, Hawaii, in 2004 and now splits her time between Honolulu and Los Angeles.

She is working on her debut album and plans to publish her book of poetry in the not-so-distant future.

In her spare time, Jane enjoys cooking for friends, painting, and plays a mean game of Scrabble.

Her favourite Karaoke song to cover is “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix A Lot. She bemoans the fact that many Karaoke rooms do not, in fact, have it available for her to torture her friends with.

She has a 110-pound black Labrador named Jerry Garcia. He likes long walks on the beach and playing fetch in the ocean. He is currently single.
